Performing at Whiteley Shopping

We really enjoyed performing at Whiteley Shopping yesterday (2nd July).   We were well looked after and the sun was shining!

We played an hour’s acoustic set, playing light classical, popular and jazz music to start with and then went on to our electric sets which included some James Bond numbers, Robert Miles Children and our newest piece in our set Feeling Good which Emma and Debbie performed as a duo for something different!  We had our fabulous sound man Ian with us too.  We are not sure how he manages to lug all the PA equipment around – there is so much involved and he does a great job.

We somehow managed to resist the temptation of going shopping afterwards, which was hard, especially for our violinist Emma who loves Joules -and we were playing just metres from their shop!

Summer update!

So -things are busy for us girls and we are really enjoying it!

We’ve been back in the recording studio, we’ve had some new photos taken by Nathan Clifford, we have new tracks which we love and we’ve performed at some great gigs, such as the Pulse Festival, The Concorde Club and the Ox and we’ve been out to Germany to perform. Patricia our Violist is from Germany so it was lovely to visit and perform in her Home Country.

Recently, we’ve enjoyed working with and performing for hundred’s of young musicians in Southampton, both with Southampton Music Hub and also the Showcase Performance Company. As well as meeting loads of talented young players, we also met the fabulous Children’s Book Author, Steve Cole who was comparing at a recent concert which was great!

Coming up, we have performances at Whiteley Shopping on Wednesday 2nd July, Meadowside Music Festival on 12 July, more performances with the Showcase Performance Company where we will be backed by a live band, lots of beautiful weddings and we also have our own concert, Cordelectra & Friends at the Concorde Club on 15th August where we will be joined by the fantastic Steve Picken and Scarlett Soul.  We will also have a DJ so that we can dance the night away after the concert!  Be sure to book your tickets through the Concorde Club.  Tickets start at £10 and you even have the option to have dinner in the restaurant before the concert.

New Year, New Music!

So with the New Year came some exciting new music!  Our excellent music arranger, Michael Eastwood has been busy arranging tracks such as Jae Ho, Explosive, Kashmir and Barber’s Adagio for Strings. We’ve also had some great backing tracks for these produced by Nick Dade.

Whilst Debbie (cellist) took some time out to the warmer climates during January and February (the cello went too!) Patricia and Emma stepped up as a fabulous string duo and enjoyed performing at the Grand Harbour with Brian Conley for Wessex Heartbeat, undertook numerous recording sessions for bands such as the Ephemerals, taught at various school workshops and performed for The Southampton Round Table.

April marks the start of us three performing back together again (yippee!).  We enjoyed performing at Hanger Farm in Totton at a showcase event, along with other acts such as Richmond Soul, Dan Cooper, Little Black Dress and Scarlett Soul.  We also had a brilliant private choreography session with Ruby Roux at Pole Performance Studios!

The diary is filling up nicely and we are looking forward to performing at many gigs, including festivals, some beautiful weddings and other corporate events as well as the Cystic Fibrosis Autumn Ball.   Keep an eye on our twitter @Cordelectra and our Facebook page Cordelectra for all up to date information!

All the best!

So, What have we been up to?!

So!  We have had an exciting couple of months…

From our promotional photoshoot at the end of August,  to lots of educational school workshops, to gigs at The Concorde Club, Eastleigh – supporting Beverley Craven, to huge performances in front of hundreds of people on 9th November at Mayflower Park, Southampton for their fireworks and the Christmas Light Switch on at Gunwharf on 15th November!  Not forgetting hours in a recording studio, producing our first CD and updating some of our choreography! Wow – I’m exhausted just looking at what we have been up to.

We have a lovely month to come with some more educational workshops in schools in Southampton and another gig at The Concorde Club on Thursday 21st November.  We are even doing some busking at Gunwharf Quays on Saturday 23rd November where we hope to meet some of our awesome supporters and will be selling and signing our CDs.

CD’s now for Sale – perfect Christmas present!

We have produced our first CD! We are incredibly excited and we hope you are too.  If you would like a CD sent to you, please email us at info@cordelectra.co.uk or complete the contact form on our website.  They are only £5 plus £2 for postage and packaging  in the UK- we think they are a bargain!  Some of the tracks include: Karl Jenkins Palladio and Daft Punk Get Lucky – so a real mix of classical and contemporary music.  We love it – we hope you will too! xx
